At NMTSA, our mission is to
provide preventative and rehabilitative neurologic music therapy
services as well as community and family education/training related to
positive behavioral and communication approaches to working with
persons with autism, neurologic impairments and/or developmental
disabilities.
Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) is an advanced level training for music
therapists. NMT uses standardized treatment techniques based on
scientific research of music and the brain. NMT is defined as: "the
therapeutic application of music to cognitive, sensory, and motor
dysfunctions due to neurologic disease of the human nervous system,"
(Thaut, 1999).
