Suzanne Oliver
MT-BC, NMT Fellow - Executive Director of NMTSA
Suzanne started Music Therapy Services of Arizona in 1982 as the first private agency in the nation to provide home-based music therapy services. In 2001 she opened the first Neurologic Music Therapy clinic in the country and made NMTSA a non-profit agency in order to further her vision of providing community education about the benefits of NMT as well as therapy services and programs for those in need.
Jenna Anderson
MT-BC, NMT Fellow - Clinical Coordinator
Jenna has provided services through NMTSA since August 2004. She received her music therapy degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis and completed her internship at University of Iowa Hospitals. She became the Clinical Coordinator of NMTSA in 2007 and is also involved in the Master Level Trainer program at the Facilitated Communication Institute in Syracuse, New York.
Anna Clermont
MT-BC, NMT - Coordinator of Services
Anna has provided services through NMTSA to individuals in the east valley since 1994. Prior to working with NMTSA, she provided music therapy services in an educational setting in the Paradise Valley Unified School District for seven years. She provided music therapy services for children of all ages and served as the Clinical Training Director of the Music Therapy Internship program for four years.
Jen Hempel
MT-BC, NMT Fellow - Administrative Coordinator
Jen has provided music therapy services through NMTSA since July 2002. Prior to working with NMTSA, she worked for three years at Attic Angel Place, a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Madison, Wisconsin. During that time Jen also served as an Artist in Residence and Choir Director for Very Special Arts of Wisconsin, providing music experiences for adults with developmental disabilities. She also provided group and individual music therapy services to individuals of all ages in the Madison community.
Sarah Studebaker
MME, MT-BC, NMT Fellow - Research Associate
Sarah has provided music therapy services through NMTSA since August of 2007. She received her bachelor's degree in music therapy from Southern Methodist University in 2004 and completed her clinical training requirements at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research in Houston, Texas working with individuals with neurological injuries and disorders. She received a Masters of Music Therapy from the University of Kansas in 2007. During that time, she worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the music therapy department. Prior to working with NMTSA, Sarah worked as a music therapist for the East Central Kansas Cooperative in Education, where she served children with developmental disabilities in a school setting.
Sabra Follis
MT-BC, NMT - Volunteer Coordinator
Sabra has provided music therapy services through NMTSA since June 2008. She started a Musical Theater degree at Oklahoma City University, but two years later, after working in physical therapy in a children s hospital, decided to transfer to a degree in Music Therapy. Sabra completed her coursework in music therapy at Colorado State University in Fort Collins last spring. She moved to Phoenix in 2008 to be NMTSA's clinical intern and was hired on as a therapist upon her completion of that program.
Carolyn Estrada
MT-BC, NMT Fellow
Carolyn has provided music therapy services through NMTSA since March 1999. She has also provided her service as a music therapist to a Southwest Autism Research Center (SARC) affiliated camp in June 2001. Carolyn first worked with children with developmental disabilities at the Valley of the Sun School as a teacher in 1969 and 1970, and then as a substitute teacher until beginning her music therapy education. After graduating, Carolyn worked with a wide variety of populations interfacing music therapy with many other disciplines. Along the way she did work in Psychodrama, Biofeedback, Chemical Dependency, and music with imagery and relaxation. After completing her Master’s Degree in Counseling Services, Carolyn continued working in the field, but with more influence on residential treatment and aftercare.
Bethany Jones
MT-BC, NMT Fellow
Bethany has provided music therapy services through NMTSA since October 2008. She received her music therapy degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan and completed her internship at the Fraser School, a non-profit preschool for children with typical and special needs, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Beth Eriksen
MT-BC, NMT
Beth has provided music therapy services through NMTSA since January 2009. She received her music therapy degree from The University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa and completed her internship at Central Wisconsin Center and Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison, Wisconsin.
Melissa Lloyd
MT-BC, NMT
Melissa has provided music therapy services through NMTSA since September 2009. She completed a bachelor of music degree in music therapy from the University of Iowa in the summer of 2009 after completing an internship at Reuben Lindh Family Services in Minneapolis.
Thea Smith
Director of Development
After a career in entertainment/venue management, Thea entered the non-profit sector to focus on development. She has over 20 years experience in special event management, marketing, media, public relations, and relationship building, and in 2007 became a certified grant writer.
Stephanie McCann
Office Manager
Stephanie has served as NMTSA's office manager since 2006. Prior to working with NMTSA, she was a real estate appraiser for nine years and worked two years for the Arizona Diamondbacks (through SES corporation) during their World Series season; receiving an official World Series ring! Stephanie studied Business Administration at Arizona State University and is a native of Phoenix.
Brendan Anderson
Project Manager
Brendan maintains NMTSA's technical side, from networking to the website, marketing materials to video and beyond. He has a degree in music with an emphasis on composing and conducting, and his wife is a therapist at NMTSA.
Rachel Salemi
NMT Intern
Rachel's internship at NMTSA will complete her Master's Degree in Music Therapy from Colorado State University. During her 6 month internship, Rachel will hone her therapeutic skills, learn from both neurologic music therapists and the individuals served, and increase her knowledge of the philosophy and research associated with NMTSA.
